Life means experience. The more you travel all around you will find inner peace. Travel is something for recreation, for exploring new beauty of nature.
At present, for the young group of people, hiking or trekking is getting famous. If you are adventurous, you can choose a hidden waterfall into the woods.
In Bangladesh, ‘ Hum Hum’ is one of the earliest discovered waterfalls. It is located in Moulvibazar, Bangladesh. It was discovered in 2010. It is situated in the Rajkandi reserve forest, Kamalganj, Moulvibazar district, Sylhet. The height of the fall is about 147 to 160 feet
In this article, I am going to share with you guys one of my heartbreaking tracking experience.
We started our journey from Dhaka to Sylhet at 11 pm. In the very early morning when we reached Sylhet, we took a local bus for Moulvibazar. If you want you can go directly to Moulovibazar from Dhaka. It took around 2.5 hours to reach Moulvibazar from Sylhet. If you like to take a flight, Sylhet will be your first destination, then you can go to Moulvibazar.
After reaching Moulvibazar we hired a CNG for the whole long day. You have to do bargaining. It is a must. Our destination was Kolabagan bosoti. Our CNG driver was so joyful. He tried a road in the tea state. I can’t express the beauty of the road. It was the rainy season, and we found the clouds on the top of the hill. The feeling was awesome. That was a lifetime deposit.
When we reached Kolabagan it was almost the middle of the day, and we started to look for a guide. A local guy was interested to do so, and we were happy to have him. He was neither Bangali but rarely spoke or understood Bangla. We started our trekking almost at noon.
I will recommend that you try to start in the morning. So, you can have enough time in colder weather, and there will be no hurry. One more thing !!! Never forget a bamboo stick which will definitely help you to support on the way.
Now, let’s start the adventurous trek !!!
In the beginning, we were so excited. But as time went on we were becoming so terribly tired that we even tried to quit. But our guide was so energetic and pushed us to walk. We brought water as much as we could. We were taking rest after every half an hour, which helped us to boost.
There were almost 10-15 large, or small hills (locally called tila), which have to be crossed by us to reach the waterfall. There are two ways for the waterfall, your guide will direct your way. You can find the real beauty in the jungle, and the hurt touching soothing wind, which must blow your mind.
It took almost 3-4 hours to reach our ultimate destination. We passed extreme slippery muddy way somewhere it was steep or somewhere it was slopped. You have to be very careful. We were following our guide’s instructions. Sometimes there was a watery way (locally they are called jhiri path), where we found water level from knee to waist.
Leeches are everywhere waiting for you. You cannot escape from them. I was attacked by three! Isn’t it scary !!!
After crossing the last hill, we were able to hear the sound of falling water. Our hearts were stopped, we were running to the waterfall to see the eternal beauty. After reaching there it was beyond imagination. The cold water flow will make your mind calm. Don’t forget to dive into the water.
When we started our return trek, it was almost evening and also raining. We were able to feel the falling of darkness into the woods!
The thrilling experience of the trek is unforgettable. If you are physically fitting and love to go trekking, don’t miss the chance to feel the beauty of the Hum Hum Waterfall.
